俗气的光读着……但就像一个几乎不错的Velveeta。

This is a story about the 7 kingdoms of a long ago world, set in a time probably similar to Lord of the Rings. In this world, the weather is strange and winters and summers can last for years on end. This story begins at the end of a long summer, meaning Winter is Coming and will be even harder than before. The story begins in Winterfell with the Starks, Lord of the North. Ned is the Lord and has 5 children with Catelyn, and a bastard son, Jon. We also meet Tyrion Lannister, a dwarf, who is the brother of the queen, and Daenerys Targaryen, an exiled princess that is living on the other side of the sea. Narration is done by Ned, his children Jon, Bran, Sansa, and Arya, Catelyn, as well as Daenerys and Tyrion. They tell how the story is unfolding where they are in the kingdom. This is a huge tale with many characters (and many of there names are similar - or the same). This is the first book of 5 (at least for now). I could not stop listening to this book! It was an epic tale with everything, romance, intrigue, honor, adventure, and characters or all ages. I really enjoyed this book, I can't believe it took me this long to read it (well it is really long!). I have the TV show on DVR, so I did watch a couple of the episodes after I read a bit, but I was so wrapped up in the story, I continued to listen in my hotel instead of just in the car! I can't wait to start the next book. I knew certain spoilers because of the TV show (even without watching, I heard a few of the major plot twists), but I was still glued to the edge of my seat to find out how it happened in the book. I have heard the TV show was faithful to the first book, but did deviate from the second. Regardless, both are great!
